Back at the beginning of April I went to the launch of LIFI23, you can work out what that stands for by looking at the title of this piece, where we were given the rundown of events taking place. As happens in life, stuff changes, and there have been a couple of tweaks to the programme as well as a new headline event being added.
For my article outlining the original programme of the event, please go to https://tyke-it-to-the-limit.com/2023/04/08/leeds-international-festival-of-ideas-2023-launch-at-leeds-playhouse/
The main alteration concerns the the Panel Discussion at 7.00pm on Thursday, 28th September, entitled Could Living The Good Life Save The Planet? where Doug McMaster steps in for Tommy Banks and Jay Blades has been replaced on the podium by Banjo Beale, a seamless repair.
Additions to the proceedings concern the amazing people who have been chosen as hosts to augment the events laid out in the launch. It’s a bit like Glastonbury but without the mud, and with proper toilets!
Sarah Powell will be joining Ruby Wax OBE for her Fireside Chat, My Journey To Mindfulness on Friday, 29th September at 7.30pm. whilst Anisa Morridadi joins Stephen Bartlett for his tete-a-tete on Wednesday, 27th September, again at 7.30pm. The latter of which is already sold out.

On Thursday, 28th September at noon, Rob Rinder will be joined for his Fireside Chat, The Invisible Rule of Law, by Lotty Leeming.

Naga Munchetty will lead the discussion dealing with the future of currency titled, The Other Side of The Coin, on Saturday, 30th September at 3.00pm.

The Fireside Chat on Thursday, 28th September at 7.30pm sees Divina De Campo join Bimini to venture into A World Beyond Binary.

Finally we have a new addition to the Festival with Leeds’ own playwright and producer, Lisa Holdsworth in conversation with Christopher Ecclestone on Saturday, 30th September at 7.30. The subject of their discussion is Arts and Culture – For The Many; or The Few.
