All I can say is that it is about time! Ever since I was taken to the pantomime at the Grand Theatre in the 1950s and on all of my visits to see a show, an opera or a gig at Howard Assembly Room since then, the evening has always ended with the audience shouting “More! More!” Now, at last we have got what we have been clamouring for.

From 14th September, the Levant-inspired MorMor will be taking up residence at Kino and serving their food until the New Year. They have already had some practice with a pop-up event at the restaurant last month which was a sell-out. Not of their principals you understand, just of the places available. The Levant region is at the meeting of Asia, the Mediterranean and North-east Africa, so a broad palette, or even palate. You can expect twists on Rack of Lamb and Whole Mackerel, as well as daily specials, keep checking their social media for details.

Until 14th September Kino will continue to serve its cheese and charcuterie boards but there will also be three themed evenings:

Wednesday 7th September finds Gin and Cheese @ Kino with Masons, Fever Tree and – you guessed it – George and Joseph.

All three run from 7.00pm until 9.00pm

Normal opening times for Kino are 5.00pm – 10.00pm Wednesday and Thursday, and noon – 11.00pm Friday and Saturday.

For those unfamiliar with Kino, it is situated on New Briggate and is part of Opera North, being in the block which they occupy with Leeds Grand Theatre. You can’t miss it, nor should you.
