Come on now, who doesn’t just love an afternoon tea. This is not just any afternoon tea, but a special one to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

How many people do you know who have been in the same 24/7 job for 70 years, just the one I suspect, so why not celebrate the event by taking afternoon tea at The Ticket Office this coming weekend.

Not only is the food and drink terribly, terribly British, but even the building, as its name suggests, is a former Railway Ticket Office. I mean, you can’t help but see the steam wafting across the platform from the Flying Scotsman, or imagine that the couple at the table in the corner are having their own Brief Encounter. This being 2022 though, there will be no curled up cheese sarnies or builders’ brew, far from it, the spread will be fit for the wonderful lady herself.

There will be a combination of hot dishes, including Haddock and Chips with Home-made Tartare Sauce, Mini Yorkshire puddings filled with Roast Beef as well as a selection of Sandwiches such as Coronation Chicken – obviously – Egg and Cress, and Cucumber with Minted Pea and Cream Cheese. Don’t fret, this being God’s Own County, they will be proper sandwiches, complete with crusts! The sweets just have to include Home-made Scone, Jam and Cream, English Strawberries with Chocolate Dip Pot and a Selection of Macarons.

The Afternoon Tea comes in two versions; the delicious spread described above which costs £14.95, or the Bottomless Drinks version for £40 which also gives you two hours of indulging yourself with Pimms, Prosecco, Bahnhof Pilsner or Jubilee Celebration Ale.

The offer runs throughout the Bank Holiday Weekend, Thursday 2nd June to Sunday 5th June and is served between 2.00pm and 4.00pm. For bookings please go to https://ticketofficebar.co.uk/news-events/

Not only will you be indulging yourself in the quintessential British experience, but £5 from each one sold will be donated to the Emergency Aid Fundraiser for Ukraine. The total raised will be announced at 4.00pm.
