If you are a bit short of wedge this summer, why not visit Leeds City Centre where you will be able to collect loads of them. Anyone in town in 2024 would have thought that Waddington’s had the MONOPOLY of board games but they would have reckoned without Hasbro, the makers of TRIVIAL PURSUIT, who will be taking over the place between Saturday, 25th July and Sunday, 30th August, 2026.
Not only will you be involved in collecting wedges to complete your pie, you will also be enjoying learning about the great City of Leeds in this, the 400th Anniversary of it being awarded the Royal Charter. It gives those adolescents across the pond something to think about, they are only 250 years-old on 4th July. I am sure that one day they will pass through their moody teens and mature a bit, although I doubt I will live to see it.
The event is being organised by LeedsBID (Business Improvement District) so you know that it will run as smooth as the tyres on a 1966 Ford Cortina. Each area will represent the subjects in the real game: Entertainment, Geography, Sports & Leisure, Science & Nature, History and Art & Literature, so you just need to collect a wedge from each, answer a final question and you will have completed the game. There will be both classic and junior questions to make sure that everyone is catered for, but please kids, don’t cheat and tell the adults their answers.
Full details will be released nearer the time at @trivialpursuitleeds and on Facebook. The one detail that you will really need to know is that, being in Yorkshire, entry is free.
