From Monday, 10th June until Sunday, 14th July, Bundobust are having a blast. Although ostensibly to mark the UEFA Euros 2024 it is a game of two halves as it is also their tenth anniversary. Where did that go?

The theme of the menu is footy food so expect plenty of Tony Currie in different positions. Upfront is the Vindaloo Pie made with pastry from striking partner Great North Pie Co. supported by mushy raged and desi gravy! This is not a hot shot, but a more orthodox player in that it goes back to the original milder recipe that Bundobust Co-Founder, Mayur Patel, would have had Back Home. If you want to wrong foot your oppo, then order a Pie Pav which is the same thing but in a butty, with mushy peas to dip it in. That should certainly put the wind up the opposition! Not even Fat Les could dream of a pie butty, especially with Vindaloo.

Is it a pie? is it a butty? Is it a curry? It’s either a Wigan Kebab or a Geordie tapas dish.

The next players are in jeopardy of being booked for dissent as they are Gobi Wingers- crispy fried cauliflower with garlic, ginger, chilli and curry leaf which come with Mogo Panenka Chip – crispy cassava fries tossed (Heads ref) in maple-chilli desi ketchup.

The more genteel version without the bun. Great dribble.

The final favourite is Hot Bundog, a soy and mushroom masala hot dog with fried onions in a brioche bun.

When you change ends at the break there is Half Time Orange, a mix of tequila, triple sec and Aperol with a spiced orange chaser. I presume that there are bits in the orange for your half time pith.

The Half Time Orange. Let’s hope the England team manage more than four shots.

Should you prefer a more conventional football libation then Bundobust Brewery is launching a light English-hopped lager which can be ordered in a three-litre tabletop beer tower so you don’t need to miss the action by going to the bar during play. It is called Shynee, so after a couple of towers, the place should be full of Shynee happy people.

There is no mention of Becks on the drinks menu but, if you are posh, and in the hospitality suite, instead of the prawn sandwiches you could try Raghda Pethis which is Rick Stein’s favourite. It is a fusion dish with, you guessed it, mushy peas, this time flavoured with garam masala, cooked until tender and then layered with potato cakes, sev, tomato, onion and topped off with Bundo’s tamarind chutney.

Should you wish to show support for your team then Sporting Club Bundobust will be selling a range of items by Acid FC, the uber cool Northern Design Agency, not the away trip organisers! There will be football shirts, T-shirts, pin badges and workers’ jackets.

The new attacking Five For One formation. It leaves the opposition looking really small.

To watch the England games, as well as other big matches, there will be a £5 entry fee, but that includes a pint of Bundobust Brewery Beer, wine or soft drink. If you are not bothered about the matches then the place will be open as normal with no charge.

Everything will be all Wright (Billy or Ian depending on your age) so there’s no need to be a Hunter, all you need is here so who could ask for Moore? If you think I am doing any Seaman jokes forget it!
