Summer’s here – honest – so it is time for us to turn our attention to getting out and loading up (responsibly of course) on sunshine and al fresco dining, along with a bit of entertainment thrown in for good measure. Add to this the chance to check out one of the grooviest new areas of Leeds, and your Saturdays are sorted until the end of July! The Junction is situated in Wellington, off Wellington Street – figures. Once you have crossed the River Aire, turn right at 1 Leeds and there you are.
The event is free, running from 3.00pm until 8.00pm every Saturday from 8th June until 27th July and will consist of world food provided by traders at the top of their game. For example, the opening day sees Herencia and El Piloto, so expect a Spanish/Mexican vibe. Subsequent weeks will have everything from Bao Buns to Baked Potatoes, via Cheese, Waffles and Pizza. 29th June sees a BBQ Special, pitting – see what I did there – MorMor against Eat Your Greens.
Drinks will be served throughout the season by The Reserve Cocktail Bar while coffee and pastries come from Rabbit Hole Coffee and Cup of Kin
Before all of that though, there is an opening special with a CAMP! Brunch. If you think that Saturday brunch is normally a drag, then can be sure that this one is, as CAMP! is an inclusive cabaret company which will bring plenty of glitz and glamour to the party. Please note that this is held before the regular Street Food Saturday, being from noon until 3.00pm and also comes at a charge of £10 plus £1 booking fee. They have built up a huge following so be sure to book your tickets early.
So, whether you live in the area or just fancy a stroll out of the city centre for some great food and entertainment, then pop along to the function at The Junction to see what is shaking, hopefully it will be the Factor 50 rather than your freezing hands!
