The cat is out of the bag, Flat Iron is opening its new branch on Lands Lane, Leeds at noon on Thursday, 30th November. The launching of a new enterprise takes meticulous planning so I am sure that, as one of their specialities is Scottish bavette, it is no coincidence that the doors will be flung open on St Andrew’s Day. Then again…
My regular readers will know that I flaunt convention wherever possible, and this is no exception. Although the official opening is on Thursday, there will be a special session at 5.30pm on Wednesday, 29th when 250 Wagyu steaks from the company’s cattle herd near Thirsk will be given away for free. Yes, you read it right, free, gratis, for nowt. This will be on a first come, first served basis so make sure you get there in plenty of time to stake your claim, and claim your steak.

Wagyu Steak
As you will be getting the star of the show for nothing, why not stick your hand in your pocket and add a side, such as Homemade Beef Dripping Chips or Truffled Macaroni Cheese, you will still walk out having had a sumptuous feast for less than a trip to the Golden Arches!
There is also a good choice of drinks, both alcoholic and otherwise, to accompany the food.

Upstairs at Flat Iron
The restaurant itself has been fitted out to the highest standards and covers two floors, so when it opens proper, they are able to keep plenty of tables to accommodate walk-ins as well as bookings. They will open every day at noon, closing at 10.00pm on Sunday to Tuesday, 10.30pm Wednesday and Thursday and 11.00pm Friday and Saturday. There are special hours over the Christmas and New Year period.
For more details about Flat Iron, please go to their website, where you can peruse the menu – although there will also be a changing Wagyu of the Day – and make bookings. https://flatironsteak.co.uk/ Click on the cleaver in the top left hand corner to reveal (no pun intended there) the options.
