Any of you who have been paying attention will know from the Leeds Heritage Theatre Preview about the Opera North productions being staged at Leeds Grand Theatre but there is lots of other stuff going on as well so here is a summary.

The main operas in the winter season are Carmen, Bernstein Double Bill in conjunction with Phoenix Dance Theatre, Rigoletto and Alcina, all of which are at Leeds Grand Theatre.

The first two are already being performed. Carmen is in Leeds on Tuesday 19th, Thursday 21st, Saturday 23rd, Tuesday 26th and Thursday 28th October after which it starts touring in Newcastle, Salford Quays and Nottingham, returning for three more Leeds dates; Saturday 12th, Wednesday 16th and Friday 18th February, 2022, it then returns to Newcastle and moves on to Hull. Trouble in Tahiti

Bernstein Double Bill which comprises the opera Trouble in Tahiti and West Side Story Symphonic Dances is at Leeds Grand on Wednesday 20th, Friday 22nd, Friday 29th and Saturday 30th October when it too visits Newcastle, Salford Quays and Nottingham. In addition to the big hitters above, there are events being held in the newly refurbished, or should that be rebuilt, Howard Assembly Rooms. These include Twilight Concert: Home from Home on Wednesday 20th October, Courtney Pine presents SONG (The Ballad Book) featuring Zoe Rahman on Friday 22nd October, Cleveland Watkiss: The Great Jamaican Songbook on Friday 29th October and Richard Dawson on Saturday 30th October. The star of the opera Carmen, Chrystal E. Williams is performing Fearless with Camila Titinger on Sunday 7th November, one not to be missed.
